Expand-O-Ring TechnologyOur Mk2 series o-ring expansion units are the direct descendants of the original Expand-O-ring technology which revolutionized seal assembly in the early 1960's. Mk2 units are the core component of most external seal assembly machines we build today, whether semi-automatic, automatic or stations. Utilizing a low viscosity lubricant and our "Floating Mandrel" concept, our machines are designed to maintain integrity of the seal and prevent rolling, cutting or other damage during expansion and assembly.
Through our 30 plus years of providing seal and o-ring assembly solutions, we have developed a variety of "off the shelf" packages to meet most customer requirements. Our in house mechanical design department is always ready to meet new application challenges.
In the spring of 2002, we developed a high-speed variation of the Expand-O-ring technology, the Mk3. The Mk3 reduces the number of motions required to expand and assemble seals, allowing cycles of .875 seconds on horizontal application and 1.25 seconds on vertical applications. Cycles rates vary depending on the size of the seals and allowable proximity to target parts.
