03.2 Manufacturing Automation Fixturing
Amara has provided fixturing for a variety of manufacturing automation applications ranging from assembly aids on low volume start-ups to facilitating automated secondary operations such as greasing, drilling and tapping, stud setting, de-gating, soldering.
Every application presents different manufacturing automation requirements that may include automatic feed of components that are too difficult or take too much time to isolate and orient, such as springs and other odd shaped parts.
Amara has designed and built a series of fixtures for various moulded automotive trim components, such as spoilers and vent grills - accurately positioning the sometimes hot part for secondary manual or automatic operations, such as drilling, stud setting and degating.
In addition, Amara has provided fixturing together with manual assembly aids and the automation for certain more difficult assembly operations, for the start-up of new products. In one case, components were fixtured for manual operations such as soldering, greasing and pressing. Stand-alone work stations were provided for sub-assembly of components which included overhead lighting, component storage, easy-access storage bins, and hand tools to assist in the assembly operation. Automatic operations included feeding of difficult-to-orient parts, and one-at-a-time presentation to the operator for manual orientation of the component. We also provided a workstation to automatically insert a snap ring.
